For the last seven years, Baby-Go-Round has been known as the go-to place for those seeking clothing, shoes, diapers, toys, baby gear and all that one needs to best care for a growing family. With sizes that range from newborn to children’s size 10/12, the consignment store has met the needs of many in our community. And as the needs change, owner Patty Lopez has evolved her store and expanded her inventory to fulfill a void that was left by the closing of another local retail shop.
“In November of 2015 after Sequels (a consignment store) closed, there was a need for resale women’s clothing as well, so we added that department,” said Lopez.
Since Baby-Go-Round opened in October of 2009, Lopez said her goal has never wavered—to provide affordable, quality goods to her customers.
“We ask our consignors to bring clean, fresh inventory that they would consider buying themselves, and we add new inventory daily,” shared Lopez. “We are dedicated to our customers and do our best to help them locate just what they want and need.” It is not uncommon for a customer to tell Lopez that he or she has looked all over for a special item and finally found it at Baby-Go-Round. “The monthly drawing of $25.00 in-store credit for customers is also a big hit!”
Patty Lopez attributes the success of her store to her two highly dedicated part time employees. “They hang in there through thick and thin and understand how hard it is to make it in a small community,” said Patty, who also is grateful to her husband, Al, who helps by doing anything that is needed from being her “Uber driver,” to painting, running errands and mopping the floor. “Other family members are there to help as well with just a call.”
Patty and Al moved to Bonners Ferry from Denver in May of 2003 to be closer to family. They had visited here regularly for 25 years and are happy they have been able to call Bonners Ferry home for the last 13 years. And the people of Bonners Ferry are not only thrilled to have them here, but are grateful for the services they offer.
Each and every day, Patty said customers extend their gratitude and tell her they don’t know what they would do without Baby-Go-Round. And then there are the grandparents who say they wished there was a consignment business such as Patty’s when they were raising children. After all, it can be expensive to keep growing children clothed throughout the seasons, especially when they typically outgrow clothes before they wear them out.
Just some of the many positive things people are saying on the store’s Facebook page include comments such as, “This business is a blessing for our community! I am so thankful for it!” Another comment found on their Facebook page is “Amazing service, value and really clean and organized. Love this place!” It is evident that Patty Lopez and Baby-Go-Round have been a blessing to the community.
“This store is as much a community service as it is a growing business,” said Patty. “As I plan my retirement, an important aspect is to see it continue for Bonners Ferry, surrounding areas and the hundreds of consignors that have given support throughout the years.”
