Located at the southeast end of the Kootenai River Inn Casino, The Spa at Kootenai has served travelers and Bonners Ferry residents since 2005. What started as a handful of spa services has grown into a full-service destination covering hair, skin, nails, massage and body treatments, open seven days a week from 9 am to 5 pm.
Spa Director Melissa LaDuca leads the team. Licensed cosmetologists Natasha Fitch, Jarreka Byars, Julia Morris, Stacy Smith and LaDuca handle hair, skin and body treatments. Nail technicians Macie Farrens and Tory Baisden cover manicures and pedicures, with Baisden specializing in nail art. Massage therapists Kristie Cooper, Clarita Thrall, Magda Ciocazan and Rayanne Towles provide massage services designed to ease aches and tension, and Laurel Burke and Audrey Edwards handle scheduling and greet guests at the door.
A Scalp Ritual works warm oil and cold aloe vera into the scalp and hair, a twenty-minute service that can stand alone or get added onto any other service. The Tranquility Tub Soak is fifteen minutes in the spa's own private luxury tub with FarmHouse Fresh bath salts. A Warm River Rock Massage uses heated stones to work deep into sore muscle layers, while a Body Polish exfoliates with a salt or sugar scrub and hydrates the skin. Facial products all come from FarmHouse Fresh, a Texas company that keeps its formulas free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates. The Kootenai Signature Facial is built to work for any skin type, while a Micro-Dermabrasion treatment targets sun-damaged skin, fine lines and early aging.
The Healing Body and Sole Pack runs up to three hours and combines the Tranquility Tub Soak, a fifty-minute custom massage, a spa pedicure and the Kootenai Signature Facial. For guests with less time, the Express Package combines an Anti-Stress Facial, Express Pedicure and 30-minute massage into about 90 minutes. Beyond the set packages, guests can also book massage, facial, nail and hair services individually. A different discount runs every month. In September, The Spa is offering fifteen percent off FarmHouse Fresh products with any package, ten dollars off an express or spa pedicure, and twenty percent off one service per visit for teachers.
Hotel guests and Bonners Ferry residents book here for the same range of reasons: a full afternoon package during a hotel stay, a single pedicure squeezed between errands, or a massage on a day off. The spa also serves visitors from surrounding communities and from across the border in Canada. Before any skin or body treatment, staff reviews the client's health history so the right precautions are taken.
"All patrons are important to The Spa, and we take great pride in the cleanliness of the facility as well as the safety, well-being, and comfort of our clients," says Spa Director Melissa LaDuca.
Appointments go through The Spa receptionist. Phone reservations are encouraged, though guests may also stop in to schedule. Guests are greeted on arrival, prepared as needed for their treatment, and escorted to their service.
