Once again, the Boundary County Victim Services (BCVS) will be hosting its annual Fall Festival Fashion Show. During this evening of fundraising, event attendees can expect a night of laughter, familiar faces and exciting auction, all while creating a platform to share knowledge and resources for victims and families of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
“For this event we concentrate on and emphasize togetherness, community and laughter amongst old friends and new faces,” says Melissa Krejci, a volunteer with BCVS. “We choose to focus on the power of togetherness and the impact of neighbors helping neighbors while we briefly honor the implications of domestic violence and sexual assault.”
Formerly held at the Pearl Theater, this year’s Fashion Show will be held at the Boundary County Fairgrounds, as it has outgrown the space. The event will take place on November 2. Doors typically open at 6, however, the official time will not be determined until tickets are created. They encourage anyone and everyone to attend, though parents are advised to use their own discretion regarding bringing children due to the serious topics discussed, “however, we would never dissuade anyone from attending this informative and fun event,” affirms Melissa.
Last year the event raised $11,000. Proceeds were used to directly serve victims and survivors to meet their needs. “The money earned at this event is spent at the director’s and the board of directors’ discretion, so they may be creative in the ways they assist victims,” according to Melissa. “Your supportive monetary contribution can provide relief in the form of emergency telephones, emergency personal supplies like baby food or temporary shelter, cost to get boarding of pets and animals so they do not become the target of abuse if the survivor leaves the home, transportation assistance and wintertime utilities assistance,” she adds. “We also ask the community for sponsorships of costs incurred, such as the rental of the venue.”
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at Under the Sun, The Dressing Room and Bonner Books. You may also purchase at the door until capacity is reached.
As Melissa says, the organization has been blessed to have the continued support of Under the Sun and The Dressing Room at our event again this year. The Dressing Room will be providing fashion items, and Under the Sun will provide beer and wine. There will also be complimentary appetizers, and a live auction and silent auction.
“We do have a raffle that we call ‘Give someone Wings,’” says Melissa. “With the purchase of a $5 Wings card, the participant will be eligible for multiple drawings for a chance to win prizes throughout the evening. The Wings proceeds directly support survivors and victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault who may be experiencing barriers to leaving.”
