Once again, the Boundary County Victim Services (BCVS) will be hosting its annual Fall Festival Fashion Show. 2019 marks the 99th year that the Bonners Ferry community has enjoyed the excitement of its annual Boundary County Fair—with 2020 to mark its centennial! A tradition that continues year after year, the fair offers four days of smiles, laughter and enjoyment for all ages.

Join the Friends of Kootenai Wildlife Refuge on Friday, July 12, for a presentation on the bat population at the refuge. The presentation, which will take place at the Environmental Education Center at the Wildlife Refuge, will begin at 7pm and is open to the public.

Leading the presentation is Jenny Barnett, a biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Jenny will be providing general information on bats and the types of bats found on the refuge.

Dirt will be flying and riders will be soaring at the Boundary County Fairgrounds as 9B Arenacross returns for a second go. The race is put on by a team of dedicated local riders who are committed to encouraging more people to get involved in dirt bike racing while at the same time providing an event that’s exciting, safe and family friendly.

The graduation ceremony for the Bonners Ferry High School seniors will take place on Saturday, June 1, at 11am at the football field. Principal Kevin Dinning said that this is a change from what was previously a 1pm ceremony, a change that was precipitated by a desire to have more family time between the ceremony and the senior class’s all-night party.

It’s Moyie Mudbog’s biggest event of the season, and one that keeps mothers returning year after year to enjoy some muddy fun on their special day.

At 8am each Thursday, volunteers are busy at work at United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry preparing a meal for up to 100 people. A weekly tradition for two years, the community meal is open to everyone.

Melanie Staples has been involved in hosting the community meal since it began and feels blessed to be a part of it. “A former pastor at United Methodist came up with the idea, and we took a leap of faith,” said Melanie. “We chose to host the luncheon on Thursdays as that is the day the Senior Center is closed.”
